There was no rain...

...but it was beautiful when the sky was on fire
Orange and yellows ablaze with pink highlights
would capture our hearts and our eyes
And what looked like the sky's demise--
A disjointed scattering of clouds
Puffing to stay above the horizon
For their last minutes--
Was a beautiful symphony
A panorama of greatness
Every night

The beauty of it all
was that it kept coming back
They kept coming back
Because God's will for them
Was that time happened to keep
Standing still, every night
And slowly it would begin to unravel
Until those final days
And the sentiments that the sky would be
No longer
But then the avalanche of colors would come
Charging in one more time
From the horizon
As if Poseidon was racing Triton
And the sunset was the trail left behind

And so even though we struggled through
that apocalyptic winter with no rain
The Kings of the Sea were at it again
When the smoke from the distant fires had settled
Sunset's mural was created
From the mirrors of your Heart
